Last month, the owner of an empty commercial property in Edmond was in need of glass repair in order to rent the building to a new tenant. The building, located on Edmond Road and Fretz, was previously the location of AA Distribution. At the time, two large windows were broken: one was a 70 ½” X 95” window with bronze-colored glass, and the other a 40 1/2“ X 71” window with clear glass. The owner previously had a great experience with Edmond Glass on a residential glass project so she decided to call us about her commercial property as well.
Both of the windows were ¼ inch single-pane tempered glass, which is usually an easy fix for us. However, these particular windows presented a few challenges. First, the building had a metal overhang on the edges of the windows, which prevented us from using our standard installation process. Second, there was a cable supporting the phone line pole right in front of the bronze window, which made our workspace extremely small for such a large window.
Luckily, our head glazer, John, has more than 40 years of commercial glass installation experience. John and Chuck, Edmond Glass manager, were able to come up solutions to overcome the challenges fairly easily. Once the bronze-colored glass arrived from the manufacturer, we went out to the property to begin the project. We estimated the project would take 2-2.5 hours to complete because of the challenges. However, we were able to finish the project in only one hour!
The owner was extremely satisfied with the finished project.
“My husband was a home builder and used Edmond Glass for many of his projects, so I knew I could depend on them to do a great job. They were very professional and considerate and explained everything to me very clearly about the project. I really like the way it turned out.”
